Question
Does the expiation for breaking the fast in Ramadan fall under the Hanafi school for someone who deceives to nullify it by deliberately breaking the fast in a way that does not require expiation; so that they can then break the fast in a way that does require it, such as by swallowing a pebble or dirt; to enable them to eat what they desire afterward or to engage in sexual relations to evade the expiation? And if this nullifies the expiation for them, does the ruling differ if they repeat this action? Have the scholars of the Hanafi school discussed this issue?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: I have not found these branches among the branches that nullify the expiation, and thus it is obligatory and does not fall. It is known that whoever repeats the act in which there is breaking the fast without expiation, then the expiation is obligatory upon them; because the repetition indicates the presence of desire and longing, and Allah knows best.
