Question
Is it true that there is a Sunnah from our noble Messenger - peace be upon him - that Witr consists of three, five, seven, or nine continuous Rak'ahs without Tashahhud, and that this is a neglected Sunnah?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The issue of determining the year requires a ruling from a jurisprudential school. In the Hanafi school, the obligatory number of rak'ahs for Witr is three consecutive rak'ahs with an intermediate Tashahhud and Qunoot in the third rak'ah; it is not permissible to have less or more than that, and God knows best.
