Question
What is the ruling if I consumed money that exceeds the threshold for the purpose of marriage?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If you consumed the money through your actions, such as marriage, purchase, eating, or others before the completion of a year, then there is no zakat upon you; due to the condition not being fulfilled, which is the completion of the year. However, if you consumed it through your actions after the completion of the year and it has reached the threshold, then nothing is exempted from you, and zakat is obligatory upon you, as mentioned in رد المحتار, 2: 21, and شرح الوقاية, ق54/أ-ب, and God knows best.
