Question
I am 53 years old, and my menstruation is currently irregular. In month (1), I had light bleeding and light brown spots that lasted for ten days, and on the tenth day, I saw white discharge (my usual cycle is 10 days). Now in month (3), the same thing happened at the beginning (noting that all the symptoms of menstruation are present), but after six days, heavy bleeding started until today (today is the seventh day of red blood). I no longer know when to consider it a cycle and when not to. Was what occurred before the red blood not menstrual bleeding? If the situation repeats with a drop of red blood, clear discharge, and then brown discharge, should it be considered menstruation?
Answer
All colors of blood that precede menstruation or occur after menstruation up to ten days are considered menstrual blood, and any blood after that is considered irregular bleeding, and Allah knows best.
