The Basmala at the Beginning of Every Surah
When reciting the Quran, should I mention the Basmala at the beginning of every Surah? If I am reading from Juz' Amma and the Surahs are short, should I say the Basmala at the beginning of each Surah, or can I move directly to the next Surah?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not obligatory for you to say "Bismillah" at the beginning of every Surah, but it is recommended for you to do so; because it is the inherited practice, and God knows best.
