The Amount That Must Be Wiped Over the Khuffs

Question
What is the amount that must be wiped over the khuffs?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The amount that must be wiped on the socks is the length and width of three fingers of the hand, and it is a condition that it be on the upper part of the front of each foot; for Al-Mughirah  said: "I saw the Messenger of God  urinate, then he came and performed ablution and wiped over his socks, placing his right hand on his right sock and his left hand on his left sock, then he wiped the tops of both with one wipe until I seemed to see his fingers, peace be upon him, on the socks," in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah 1: 170, and the Sunan of Al-Bayhaqi Al-Kabir 1: 292. And from Jabir : "The Messenger of God  passed by a man performing ablution who washed his socks, so he nudged him with his feet and said: This is not how the Sunnah is; we were commanded to wipe like this, and he gestured with his hands over his socks," in the Al-Mu'jam Al-Awsat 2: 30-31, Al-Tabarani said: It is not narrated from Jabir except with this chain. In another narration: "The Messenger of God  said with his hand like this from the tips of the fingers to the base of the leg and he drew lines with his fingers," in the Sunan of Ibn Majah 1: 183, and see: Nasb Al-Rayah 1: 180, Al-Binayah 1: 576, and Talqees Al-Habeer 1: 160, and Khulasat Al-Badr Al-Munir 1: 74. Since the wiping of the Messenger of God  was with lines, it is known that it is with the fingers and not the palm, and the majority has the ruling of all, and because the fingers are the tools of wiping and three is the most of them, and the Sunnah has come with it, see: Rad Al-Muhtar 1: 181, Sharh Al-Wiqayah p. 116, Durar Al-Hukam 1: 36, and Al-Maraqiy p. 168, and God knows best.
