Taking an Excess Price Without Permission
A manager responsible for a nursing home, when organizing a trip for the elderly women, tells them that the lunch meal costs more than the required price, takes the excess amount, and puts it in the center's budget without the elderly women knowing that they paid extra for the meal and that the extra went to the budget. What is the ruling on this action given that the women were unaware of the extra amount they paid?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: This is deception and lies, and it is not permissible by Sharia. She must return the money to its owners; because it is ill-gotten gains that are not permissible for the center, and God knows best.
