Question
A person swore to a candidate, meaning he would give him his vote in exchange for money, and promised the same to multiple candidates. When voting, he recorded more than one candidate, knowing that this would not be counted in the tally, believing that he fulfilled his promise to all, thinking that he is not bound by his oaths. What is the ruling on him?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: This is bribery, deception, and lies, all of which are not permissible for a Muslim, and he is required to make expiation for an oath. And God knows best.
