Sufficiency with Al-Fatiha for Fear of Missing the Time for Witr
I want to know if I am praying Shaf' and Witr, and while I am in the second rak'ah of Shaf', the Fajr call to prayer is announced, can I not conclude the prayer and complete the third rak'ah but recite Surah Al-Ikhlas after Al-Fatiha, or should I suffice with Al-Fatiha?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible to suffice with just Al-Fatiha; because adding a surah to Al-Fatiha is mandatory in the third rak'ah of the Witr prayer, and the time of Fajr does not invalidate the Witr, and God knows best.
