Question
Earning from electronic games is considered forbidden according to the previous fatwa due to the waste of long hours. Work in companies and factories also takes long hours, reaching up to 10 hours. Why do we not say that earning from this work is also forbidden since it takes a long time?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: We are commanded to work, even for a few hours; for the worldly benefit it brings to him and to the Muslims, and for the reward in the Hereafter; because work is a type of worship if one purifies his intention. We have been forbidden from playing due to its worldly harm in wasting life on what is of no benefit, and in the Hereafter due to sin; because it is disobedience, and God knows best.
