Silver Nisab

Question
What is the amount of silver nisab that requires zakat to be paid?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The minimum threshold for silver is (200) dirhams, and the dirham equals (3.5) grams, thus the minimum threshold equals (700) grams of silver, as stated by the Mufti of Homs, the scholar, reciter, and jurist Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ayoun Al-Sud in his message "The Legal Quantities"; Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Give a quarter of the tithe from every forty dirhams, and there is nothing due on amounts less than two hundred; if there are two hundred dirhams, then there are five dirhams due, and for anything above that, the calculation is the same." This is found in Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 4: 34, and Sunan Abu Dawood 1: 492, see: Hashiyat Al-Labab, 2: 338, and Allah knows best.
