Question
Is it permissible to show the charity that we do for our deceased father? For example, do I have the right to inform my sisters, brothers, and mother that I did this for my father? And is it permissible to show that I am completing the Quran for my mother while she is alive, or should it remain a secret?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If it is for the purpose of spreading goodness and virtue so that others may follow, it is permissible; but if it is for the sake of showing off, it is not permissible. And God knows best.
