She vowed to fast six days of Shawwal

Question
A lady vowed thirty years ago to fast six days of Shawwal, and she has been doing so until now. However, she is now ill and cannot fast more than the month of Ramadan. Does she have to make a compensation, or should she fast while she is ill?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: If she is unable to fast due to a permanent incapacity, she should pay the fidya for each day of fasting, and Allah knows best.
