Selling through Network Marketing

Question
A consumer buys a product, then invites others to buy the same product in exchange for a commission, and the first consumer receives a commission when others purchase the product. What is the ruling on this type of marketing?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It seems that this is not a real sale; people enter the sale as a formality while intending to deceive others by involving them in this process to take their money under a contract whose reality is that it profits as much as it deceives and misleads others, taking their money without a real counterpart. The prohibition here is that there is no commodity that has this market consideration; otherwise, it would be difficult for this large pyramid of profit to be one for one. It is apparent that there is deception in promoting something that has no significant value, and therefore the profit from it is corrupt; because it is obtained through deception and illusion of others. Each person gains profit in exchange for deceiving another, with no attention to the sold item, but rather to the profit made through this manipulation. Our Sheikh Al-Othmani said in the jurisprudence of sales (2: 779) after discussing the issue from various angles: "What experience has shown is that the product is often something trivial sold at a high price, and it may not have a market; rather, people buy it in hopes of obtaining large amounts through a marketing network. Some people, before this system, did not sell anything but received money by paying for tickets that had no money or benefit behind them. However, those who take these tickets enter the network and seek others to buy tickets, winning amounts if the buyers reach a certain number. This was pure gambling, called 'the pyramid scheme,' and it was banned by the laws of most countries because it seized people's money through this gambling. When this method was banned, they introduced some products instead of tickets, but increased their prices, calling it 'the marketing network,' with the same intention as in 'the pyramid scheme.' It has not been prohibited in many countries until now, but it is religiously forbidden in this manner," and God knows best.
