Selling the found item before identifying its owner
My friend found an electronic device on the road and did not ask about its owner. Is it permissible for me to buy it from him?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: It is not permissible to sell or buy it before identifying it and searching for its owner. If its owner is identified and there is a suspicion that the owner will not return, and the person is poor, it is permissible to sell it, and God knows best.
