Question
My son is currently studying for four years at university, preparing to specialize as a dentist. We are currently covering the university expenses without loans. Once this phase is over, he will specialize at a costly university, and we cannot afford the tuition fees. We have two options: either my son joins the U.S. Air Force, which will cover all the costs, and when he finishes his studies, he will work with them as a doctor only, without engaging in any wars, or my son takes a loan from the bank ranging from $300,000 to $700,000, depending on which university accepts him. What is your opinion on this?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: His joining the American army, if it does not assist in falsehood, injustice to people, and the killing of innocents, is permissible. And God knows best.
