Question
What is the ruling on saying 'Allah, the Almighty, has spoken the truth' after completing the recitation of the Holy Quran? Is it considered an innovation since it was not reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him)?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is a Sunnah followed by the companions, the successors, and those after them from the leaders of the religion. It is a praise of God and a mention of Him. God and His Messenger (peace be upon him) have commanded us to remember and praise Him in general. So we mention God and praise Him, whether with words that have been reported from the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) or not, due to the generality of the command. This is a matter agreed upon without dispute, and anyone who says otherwise is to be doubted; for they seek to confuse and mislead the Muslims, and they should be warned against. And God knows best.
