Question
Is it permissible for a person to sacrifice on behalf of their deceased father before sacrificing for themselves?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Anyone who possesses the minimum amount that exempts them from zakat, which is 100 grams of gold, must sacrifice on their own behalf each year. It is permissible for them to also sacrifice on behalf of others with another sacrifice, but it is not permissible for them to neglect the sacrifice for themselves; it is obligatory upon them, and God knows best.
