Ruling on Zakat for Ornamental Gold
She says she has had gold since her marriage and has not paid Zakat on it. Does she owe Zakat for the past? How is the Zakat on what she has calculated, knowing that she sells some of it to support her family due to financial difficulties? Is she required to pay Zakat on her family's behalf?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Zakat is obligatory on gold if it reaches (100) grams, otherwise, zakat is not obligatory on it. If it is at this amount, its zakat is paid at 2.5% every year.
