Ruling on Zakat for Money Saved for Education
A family has set aside an amount of money for their son's university tuition, which he takes from each year. Is he required to pay Zakat on this money?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Zakat is due on it as long as it is not actually spent, and God knows best.
