Ruling on Zakat for a Brother

Question
I have a brother whose salary is only 397 dinars as an early retirement pension, and this is his only income. He has a wife and four daughters, the eldest is in university, and he owns his home. Is it permissible to give him part of my Zakat?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to give zakat to a brother if he is poor and does not own the value of the nisab of deprivation, which is 100 grams of gold, in excess of the basic needs for housing, food, clothing, and a car. You will receive two rewards: the reward for zakat and the reward for maintaining family ties by giving to him. And God knows best.
