Ruling on the Sunnah of Fajr When Time is Tight
If the time is tight for the sunrise, and there is not enough time for both the Sunnah and the obligatory prayer, is it better to pray the obligatory prayer and make up the Sunnah after sunrise, or to pray the Sunnah and the obligatory prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If the time for Fajr prayer is short, one should perform the obligatory prayer. As for the Sunnah, if one prays it after the time of sunrise in search of the reward that was missed by neglecting the Sunnah, we ask Allah, the Exalted, to compensate him with something better. And Allah knows best.
