Ruling on the Prayer in Which the Imam Forgot Without Remembering It
An imam prayed Dhuhr with five rak'ahs, and after the salam, the worshippers were certain that they had prayed five rak'ahs. What is the ruling on their prayer and the prayer of the imam?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If they sat at the beginning of the fourth (unit), their prayer is valid; if they did not sit at the beginning of the fourth, their prayer is invalid and has become a voluntary prayer, so they must repeat it. And God knows best.
