Question
My brother bought me something, and I said to him: By God, I will pay for it. He refused. Do I have to make expiation, or is it an oath of nonsense?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is customary in Jordan to pronounce (by God) as a habit and not as an oath. If that is the case, then there is no expiation upon you. However, if you pronounced it as an oath, then you have to perform the expiation for breaking the oath, and God knows best.
