Ruling on the Oath of Laghw
My brother bought me something, and I said to him: By God, I will pay for it, but he refused. Do I have to offer expiation, or is it a laghw oath?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: It is customary in Jordan to pronounce (by God) as a habit and not as an oath. If that is the case, then there is no expiation required from you. However, if you pronounced it as an oath, then you must perform the expiation for breaking the oath, and God knows best.
