Ruling on the Discharge After Forty Days of Postpartum
A woman has completed the postpartum period, but she still sees very light brown discharges. What is the ruling on her prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The maximum duration of postpartum bleeding is forty days. Any blood that exceeds this is considered irregular bleeding (istihada), and God knows best.
