Ruling on the Continuation of Menstrual Bleeding for More Than Ten Days
She had an IUD placed, and her menstruation extends for more than ten days. How should she calculate her menstrual days?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The old habit is considered; so if the menstruation exceeds ten days, the excess beyond the old habit is considered blood of istihada (irregular bleeding), and God knows best.
