Ruling on the Blood That Comes After Removing the IUD
A woman had her period for a week, and two days later she removed the IUD, and she experienced a lot of bleeding. Is this considered irregular bleeding (istihada) so I can perform ablution and pray, or is it menstruation (hayd)?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The picture is not entirely clear, but the principle is that what you see is considered menstruation if it lasts for ten days, unless the doctor tells you that it is not menstruation, in which case it is not considered menstruation. And God knows best.
