Question
I underwent a surgery for 'keratoconus' and was prohibited from bending or moving my head either forward or backward, as well as from having water reach my face in any way, and from exposure to light. The doctor did not allow me to perform ablution or take a shower until after five days. One day after the surgery, I became pure from menstruation. What should I do? Is tayammum sufficient in my case instead of ghusl?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: You can perform the ghusl (full ablution) by reaching the water to the areas you can reach concerning major impurity. As for wudu (minor ablution), if you can reach the water to most of the parts required for wudu, you must wash them, and it is not necessary to wash what you cannot reach. If you are unable to reach the water to most of the parts in wudu, you must perform tayammum (dry ablution) instead. And God knows best.
