Ruling on Taking Services from a Rented Apartment to Another
The questioner says: We are at a summer camp where we rent furnished apartments. I thought the apartment next to us was empty, so I took a towel and some dishes from the balcony, because the towel was not in my apartment. After two hours, I discovered that there were new people in the apartment. What should I do? Knowing that I did not intend to do that, I thought no one lived in the apartment?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: You must return the towel to its place because it belongs to them, not to you. It is not permissible to take the towel and the utensils again until you get permission from the apartment owners. And God knows best.
