Ruling on Taking Medications to Breastfeed an Adopted Child
Is it permissible for a person to adopt a child and provide his wife with medications so that she can breastfeed him, and the wife's sister has frozen her milk and given it to the child so that he also becomes her son by breastfeeding? Is this permissible, and does he indeed become their son by breastfeeding?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If a boy drinks milk before he reaches two years old, he becomes a son to whoever he drank from, whether her milk came out due to medication or otherwise. Similarly, if it was preserved in some way and then he drank it at that age, he becomes a son to everyone he drank from. And God knows best.
