Ruling on Shortening Prayers for the Traveler
Is it obligatory for the traveler to shorten the prayer, or is he given a choice?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The prayer must be shortened for the traveler; because shortening is a concession that allows for omission, so he prays the four (rak'ahs) as two, and God knows best.
