Ruling on Selling Debt
Is it permissible to sell a debt? If I have money owed to me by someone (1000), can I sell the debt to someone for (800) in cash?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is forbidden to sell a debt from someone other than the one who owes the debt, and this is usury, and God knows best.
