Ruling on Praying in Dirty Shoes
A person works in a place, enters the bathroom with his shoes on, and moves from one place to another at work with the same shoes. When he prays at work, he smells an unpleasant odor on the prayer mat. Is his prayer valid or not? If it is not valid, is it permissible for him to delay his prayer and make it up when he returns home?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Usually, the smell is not from impurity as is thought. If it is from impurity, he should use a prayer rug placed over the impure carpet and pray. And God knows best.
