Ruling on Praying for Non-Prophets
Some messages circulating on WhatsApp and attributed to Imam Ali begin with the phrase 'peace be upon him.' Is it correct to say 'peace be upon him' for non-prophets?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to say that for non-prophets, but it is contrary to what is traditionally held by the Ahl al-Sunnah in general. It is preferable to refrain from it and to reserve it for the prophets. And God knows best.
