Ruling on Prayer with the Presence of Discharge
The questioner says: I have a problem with my menstrual cycle; it starts with a pink color and then stops. I continue my prayers after washing, and then a day or less later it returns. When it ends on the seventh day, there are brown spots for three or four days, with the color fading each day. Do I have to pray on these days, especially on the 11th and 12th when there are still light traces?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The spots before the menstrual cycle are not considered part of the cycle, as long as there is strong blood that follows and lasts for the duration of the cycle. As for what comes after, it is considered part of the cycle, as long as it is within the period of menstruation, which is ten days. The blood that a woman sees on the 11th and 12th days is considered blood of istihada (non-menstrual bleeding), and God knows best.
