Ruling on Performing Congregational Prayer When the Imam Prohibits the Congregation Due to the Spread of (Coronavirus)
Are we sinful for going out to pray in congregation while disobeying the order of the ruler, or are we sinful for not going out to the congregational prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Congregational prayer is a Sunnah, so there is no sin in abandoning it, even without the order of those in authority. The prohibition of our prayers in the mosques allows us to pray in our homes; to achieve reward and merit, and God knows best.
