Ruling on Paying the Deceased's Debt
My sister's husband passed away, and he had taken a loan from the bank. Is there a sin on his family if they do not pay off his debt?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: This is a debt owed by them, and it must be paid if the deceased has money. If he did not leave any money, it is not obligatory, and God knows best.
