Question
Is it permissible to take coins that are lying on the road or in the house? Is it considered theft?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Money found on the road and in the house is considered lost property, and it is not permissible to take it except for the purpose of returning it to its owner. The finder must inform others about it until it reaches its owner. If the owner does not come, it is permissible to give it as charity to oneself if one is poor or to others. And God knows best.
