Ruling on Adopting Other Schools of Thought

Question
There are Hanafi students studying here at Dar Al-Mustafa who ask about actions in the Shafi'i school that do not exist in our school, such as how to perform the Witr prayer in Ramadan and the funeral prayer for the absent. Is it better for us to adhere to our school and not perform them, or should we do them to avoid fitna, since everyone here is Shafi'i?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: As long as they are students of jurisprudence, they should adhere to the school of thought in the Witr prayer, and there is no fitnah (trial) in it; because it can be delayed. As for the prayer for the absent, there is fitnah in neglecting it, so it is permissible to follow the Shafi'i school in this matter, and God knows best.
