Revocation of the Gift Before Acceptance

Question
My sister promised my brother that she would give him her share of the inheritance from our father, but the apartment was not sold at that time, and now the heirs have agreed to sell it. She is now a widow; does this count as a revocation of the gift since she says she needs the amount after her husband's death? Note that she has orphans.
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is recommended for her to fulfill her promise, but if it harms her and she is in need of money, she is excused from that. It is preferable for the brother not to accept this as long as his sister is in need, especially since her circumstances have changed with the death of her husband, in order to relieve her of hardship. And God knows best.
