Returning the Divorced Wife After Ten Divorces
A woman had a married brother who divorced his wife several times, and she would go each time and return his wife to him. This act was repeated by her more than ten times without seeking a fatwa. This woman has passed away, and her daughter is asking if she should give expiation for her mother for these actions?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: There is no expiation for this act, but the great sin is in the woman remaining with her husband despite the fact that he has divorced her. It is upon her daughter to give charity on behalf of her mother and to pray for her. And God knows best.
