Question
Is it permissible for someone suffering from laryngitis to read the Quran with their eyes and heart only, without using their tongue, because the air that comes from moving the lips and producing sound exhausts them? And if a woman sits in her prayer area until sunrise in her home, does she receive the reward of Hajj and Umrah, or is it a condition to sit in the mosque?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is permissible to read by pronouncing with the tongue or merely by passing over it to the best of one's ability, and the reward is based on contemplation and reflection, not on pronunciation. A woman should designate a place in the house, even the size of a prayer rug, called a mosque, where she can seclude herself and sit for glorification, and she will receive the reward for sitting in the mosque just like men do. And God knows best.
