Question
What is the ruling for a resident who wiped over his socks and then traveled after completing a day and night?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If he is in a state of ritual impurity, he should remove his shoes and perform ablution; if he is not in a state of ritual impurity, washing his feet alone is sufficient. See: Tanweer al-Absar and al-Durr al-Mukhtar and al-Radd al-Mukhtar 1: 185, and al-Hadiyya al-Alaiyya p. 40, and God knows best.
