Repaying Debt in Another Currency
A man wanted to borrow in Syrian currency, and the creditor gave him in Saudi riyals. What is the ruling if the debtor repays in Syrian currency? And if he repays in Saudi riyals, is it considered usury, given that there has been an increase in the price of the riyal?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Payment in Syrian or Saudi currency is permissible, and it is not usury, and God knows best.
