Removing the Hookah from Its Owners

Question
A hookah was purchased by some people who paid for it collectively and placed it in one location. I saw it and moved it to another place so they wouldn't use it. Should I break it or return it to them, knowing that they are young people?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: This issue is one of the matters of enjoining good and forbidding evil. If you have authority over these young people, you can prevent them even by breaking it. If you do not have authority over them, it is not permissible for you to break it. You can advise them kindly or act in a way that you see fit and that you are capable of, without causing you embarrassment or difficulty. And God knows best.
