Regulations for a Girl Sitting with Her Suitor Before the Marriage Contract
A young man asked my father for my hand in marriage, and my father agreed to my marriage to him, and I also agreed to marry him. The Fatiha was recited, as it is a custom in our country, but the marriage contract has been delayed for a reason. Can I sit with the young man or talk to him in a respectful and modest manner to get to know him better, or talk to him on the mobile phone, or is that not permissible until the marriage contract is finalized?

I say, and with God's help: It is permissible to sit with the suitor before the contract without being alone together, without adornment, without revealing one's private parts, and without shaking hands. Likewise, talking with him on the phone with complete etiquette. And God knows best.
