Question
In congregational prayer, the original rule is to listen to Surah Al-Fatiha, then he reads it alone. In this way, no one can focus on the Surah Al-Fatiha that he is reading or on the Surah that the Imam is reading. Is it permissible to read during the Imam's recitation?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Reciting Al-Fatiha behind the imam is disliked to the extent of prohibition. The follower does not recite anything behind the imam, neither in silent prayers nor in loud ones; rather, he remains silent and humble, because for one who has an imam, the imam's recitation is his recitation. And God knows best.
