Question
I paid the expiation for fasting due to sustained inability and gave it to my poor disabled daughter, but before she could receive it, she told them to give it as charity on her behalf. Is this permissible? And is the expiation valid for the father if he is unable to fast?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The expiation is not valid unless one reaches the stage of permanent incapacity. If one is able to fast, they should not pay the expiation but must make up the fast. The expiation is given to the poor, excluding your children and parents; it should not be given to ancestors or descendants. And God knows best.
