Question
My son started making up for the days he fasted when he would automatically swallow the gastric juice that came out with him. Does he have to make up these days? And if the answer is no, can he count what he fasted as a make-up for the six days of Shawwal?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: He does not have to make up for Ramadan; because the stomach's juice is like saliva, so his fast is valid as long as he does not vomit a mouthful and do it intentionally. As for what he fasted to make up for it, it will be a voluntary fast from the six days of Shawwal; because it involves the intention of fasting, and God knows best.
